William Gene Welsh

February 10, 1958 — August 2, 2024

William Gene Welsh, lovingly known as "Bill" to his family and friends, passed away peacefully at his home in Indianapolis, Indiana, on August 2,2024. He was surrounded with love from his family as he transitioned from this world into the next.

William was born on February 10, 1958, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Leonarde E Teepe and Barbara A. (Welsh) Pettigrew. William grew up in Indianapolis where he attended Emmerich Manual High School. After High School, he embarked on a 30-year long career at Electric Steel Casting, as a welder. For the second part of his career , he decided he wanted to become a CDL driver and spent 15 years driving his "big truck". He loved being out seeing the country. His work ethic and commitment shone through in everything he did, leaving a lasting impact on those around him.

William was known for his heart of gold with an infectious laugh that you couldn't help but love. His zest for life was seen and felt by all those around him, especially when enjoying life's simple pleasures. His vehicle couldn't pass a garage sale or antique sale. Do not mention needing to go to Sam's Club or Costco, he would beat you to the car. He was always ready to have a cookout, or his big Halloween party and you could bet that jukebox he loved so much was cranked up for everyone to enjoy.

If you ever went anywhere with William you could count on two things, he never met a stranger, and he would be ready with a joke and his loud, contagious laugh. That is just who he was, he made people feel at ease and welcome.

Family, his personality was big, but his family was bigger. He loved and cherished his family. He is survived by his children, William R. Welsh (Tanya), Tammy Carpenter (Jeremy), Candy Reuther (Aaron), and Christina Welsh; siblings, Patty Lamb, Curtis, Jimmy and Leonard Teepe; uncles, Donald and Walter Teepe. William had 18 wonderful grandchildren and was blessed with 26 great grandchildren.

William was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Teepe, his aunt, Dorothy Teepe, as well as one grandchild and one great grandchild.

A celebration of Williams life will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home in Indianapolis on August 13, with visitation from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. The funeral service will be on August 14, at 10am, also at Newcomer Funeral Home. At 11:30am, William will make his journey to his final resting place at Forest Lawn Memory Garden located in Greenwood, Indiana.

William "Bill" Welsh touched so many lives. The was he faced his battle with cancer with such courage, grace and great strength. This truly inspired all who were a part of his life. William is leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, kindness and compassion and cherished memoris and not a cancer diagnosis. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace knowing he was loved beyond measure.
