William Joe Smith, Sr.

William Joe "Bill" Smith, Sr., age 58 of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at his residence. He was born October 22, 1964 in Bloomington, Illinois the son of Donald and Linda (Killion) Smith. He was a 1982 graduate of Jeffersonville High School and then proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He worked as a supervisor for Central Transportation for over 15 years. Bill married Amy Coble and they were happily married for 10 years until her recent passing. He was one of the hardest workers at everything he did and always devoted his time and attention into making sure things were right. Bill enjoyed fishing, camping and playing his Play Station 4. He loved his family and especially liked to spend time with his grandchildren.

William is survived by his parents, Donald and Linda Smith; 6 children, William J. Smith, Jr., Ben Smith, Kari Smith, Trevor Bratcher, Tyler Bratcher and Thomas Bratcher; 9 grandchildren, Briella McLeland, Brycen Smith, Bravyn Smith, Braxton Smith, Ava Smith, Audri Smith, Cora Stultz, Halo Smith and Daniel Smith; 2 brothers, Robert Smith and John Smith; nieces and nephews, Megan, Marie and Cameron; and several extended family members and friends.

William is preceded in death by his wife, Amy Smith and sister-in-law, Penny Smith.

A funeral service honoring William's life will take place at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 E. Hanna Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46227 with Assistant Pastor Sonny Haumesser of Calvary Temple Church in Terre Haute. Military honors will be conducted following the service by the United States Marion Corp Honor Guard. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 – 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
