William Mcgonigal

Indianapolis - William "Leon" McGonigal, 83, passed away Friday, January 8, 2021. He was born March 17, 1937 in Indianapolis, IN to the late William and Katherine White McGonigal. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He served his community as a carpenter.

Mr. McGonigal was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Fran Simpson. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Scott McGonigal; daughter, Rebecca Jo Pritchett and her husband, Larry; sons, William L. McGonigal, Jr. and his wife, Jean and James Edgar McGonigal; step-sons: Randall S. Gardner and his wife, Justine, Jeffery T Gardner and his wife, Lyn and Robert Gardner; sisters, Martha Kachele and her husband, Dan and Norma Conway and her husband, Gene; brothers, Larry McGonigal and his wife, Cindy and Edgar McGonigal; 11 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and many more loving family members and friends.

Mr. McGonigal's family will receive friends Wednesday, January 13, 2021, from 5 - 6 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. A private service will follow at 6 pm. For the health and safety of all guests attending, face masks are required. A celebration of his life will be conducted Thursday, January 14, 2021, at 1 pm, at Southport Heights Christian Church, 7154 South McFarland Road, Indianapolis, IN 46227. In lieu of usual remembrances, please direct memorial contributions to Southport Heights Christian Church or Indianapolis Cancer Society.
