William Ross Kermeen

Indianapolis - William Ross "Bill" Kermeen, 70, passed from this life at 4:20 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2022, after courageously battling Multiple Sclerosis for over 18 years. Bill was born July 21, 1951 in Indianapolis to the late Robert and Marilyn Jordan Kermeen. He spent his youth fishing with his grandparents, bailing hay on his aunt's farm, playing sports for Center Grove High School, and generally causing mild mischief wherever he went. The day after he graduated high school he began his apprenticeship as a tool and die maker. He worked in that profession until illness forced him to retire in 2004. He has missed going to work every day since - how sick is that?

Bill crashed a party in 1973, and that's where he met Gloria Richards. They quickly fell in love and got married on June 22, 1974. They spent nearly 48 years building a life filled with love, music and laughter. Gloria will miss him dearly because he made her laugh even when times were hard, showed her the beauty of nature and music and loved her deeply every day.

Bill was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Robert and Marilyn Kermeen, and his grandparents: Robert and Henrietta Jordan and Frank and Carrie Kermeen. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria Richards Kermeen. Additionally, he leaves as his legacy four children: Anjela (Mark) Sullivan, Katie (Matt) Swisher, Kelly (Brandon) Alyea, and Robert Burns Kermeen II (Shayna Williams). He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Alivia Brown, Sara Brown, Kamryn Alyea, Harrison Alyea, Hannah Swisher, and Henry Swisher. Bill is also survived by his loving sister, Rebecca (Tom) Scherer; brother, Barry (Pam) Kermeen; countless in-laws, nieces and nephews; and many life-long friends.

The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to the staff at Forest Creek Village for their tireless and loving care of Bill in his final months.

A celebration of Bill's life will be conducted Friday, May 6, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. at Smith Valley United Methodist Church, 5293 Old Smith Valley Road, Greenwood, IN with Rev. Matt Swisher officiating. The service will be followed by a casual reception at the church. To properly honor Bill's life, please do not wear a suit.
