Truman Harris Casteel, 84, of Indianapolis, IN was welcomed by his Savior at the gates of Heaven on June 1st, 2021. Truman was born in Franklin, KY on July 14th, 1936 to the late Willie Monroe Denton Casteel & Verdie Mae Casteel. He grew up in the Kentucky/Tennessee area where he played basketball but settled in Indianapolis in the early 50's to work. Truman retired from his working days in 2008 from the Town of Speedway Wastewater Treatment Facility. He loved racing cars at Kitley Motor Speedway and was a very avid sports fanatic where he had a special love for the Cincinnati Reds, Kentucky Wildcats, Alabama Football, Colts football and Pacers basketball. Truman spent a large part of his life attending church regularly where he was a longtime member at Villa Oaks Baptist Church. Truman has 7 children; Michelle (Wayne) Shirley, Joseph (Jeanette) Casteel, Leanne (Keith) Reed, Jeffrey Casteel, David (Chris) Casteel, Michael (Cheryl) Casteel, & Charity (Mike) Cayce; all of the Indianapolis area.
Truman is proceeded in death by his wife of 34 years; Peggy Casteel (Taylor), his parents, 2 brothers; Russell and Chuck Casteel, 2 sisters; Thelma Hunter & Ruby Austin, and 3 grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of a combined 30 years; June Casteel (Anderson), his children, 20 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren & 3 step-children.

Truman's friends and family may visit from 11 AM – 1 PM on Monday, June 7, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. The funeral service will follow at 1 PM with Pastor Robby Baire officiating. Burial will take place at Floral Park Cemetery, 425 North Holt Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46222.
