Susan Kay (Gindelberger) Sedgwick, 72, of Indianapolis, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017.
Susan was born on November 28, 1944 in South Bend (Osceola), Indiana to Lowell and Helen Gindelberger (deceased). She graduated (Salutatorian) from Penn High School, Mishawaka. She graduated (B. A. Mathematics) from Albion College in Albion, Michigan. She was a Phi Beta Kappa and Pi Beta Phi at Albion. Immediately after college, Sue served as a short term missionary for the Methodist Church in the Congo (Zaire). While there, she taught High School Mathematics (in French). Sue came to Indianapolis in 1974 to serve as the Director of the Lucille Raines Residence operated by the United Methodist Women. Sue also worked for several organizations and companies as an office manager. These included Meridian Medical Group, League of Women Voters, North United Methodist Church, Amigo Mobility and Selco Engineering.
Sue was active at North United Methodist Church and Osceola Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women serving on and leading many committees and projects. She was also active in the Washington Township schools belonging to and leading school PTOs and serving several times on the MSDWT Parent Council.
Sue is survived by husband, Stephen W. Sedgwick; daughters, Stacey Sedgwick (Joshua McKee), Shelly Sedgwick and Shannon Sedgwick; sisters, Nancy Smith and Pat (Leroy) Peters; and her nieces and nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth Gindelberger; and brother-in-law, Herbert Smith.
A memorial visitation will be conducted Saturday, April 1, 2017, from 5 - 8 p.m. at North United Methodist Church located at 3808 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208 A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, April 2, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the church.
