She attended Harry E. Wood High School and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. She then attended IUPUI in 1984 and Marian College in 1986 for her associates agree in nursing.
Susan had a long career as a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nurse at Riley Hospital, for 27 years. She was also a veteran of the United States Navy.
She was united in marriage on January 24, 1999 to Elmer Hart at his family home in Indianapolis, Indiana.
She enjoyed all aspects of life, rather it be going out and being around people, singing karaoke, entertaining and being the life of the party, wild and free or being at the solace of her home sewing, crocheting, gardening or simply sitting on the porch watching the world around her. You could also find her quietly reading, and clipping out articles and quotes that touched her, for safe keeping. She was a huge fan of music, including some of her favorites are KT Olsen, Loretta Lynn, Jewel and Dido.
Susan loved more than anything her relationships with her family and friends. She loved to have the deep meaningful conversations as well as just being fun and lighthearted. One of her favorite annual events was attending the Indianapolis 500 Carb Day with her daughter. Her husband, Elmer and her children were the loves of her life.
Susan had many things in life that she took pleasure in, such as her houses, her collections, her plants, cats, dogs, her favorite sparkling sandals and her Mama. She even belonged the Stray Cats Neighborhood Association and The Mayor of Churchman Avenue (she would remind you to vote today!).
Susan had a beautiful smile, twinkling blue eyes, a kind heart and was a mentor to many.
