Steven J. Russell

Indianapolis – Steven J. Russell Sr., 70, passed away at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at his residence with his loving wife Patricia by his side. He was born to the late Morland and Ola Fern (Gray) Russell on June 28, 1950 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Steven graduated from Franklin Central High School, class of 1969. Afterwords he earned his bachelor's degree in fire protection at Penn State University in University Park, Pennsylvania graduating in 1974. Steven was united in marriage on October 14, 2000 to Patricia "Trish" Sowder in Greenfield, Indiana. Professionally, he was a foreman at Dalmatian Fire Protection Services in Indianapolis, IN retiring after 36 years of dedicated service. Steven was also a little league coach for over 30 years in Franklin Township.

Steven is survived by his wife of 20 years, Patricia "Trish" Russell; children, Steven J. Russell Jr., Kristie L. Russell and David W. Wernery; brothers, Bill Russell and his wife, Bobbie Jo, Bob Russell and his wife, Terri and Dale Russell and his wife, Barbie; sisters, Marian Kays, Lou Ann Tumey and her husband, Larry and Gale Kurtz and her husband, Mark; and grandchildren, Ashelee, Jacey, Colten, Skylar, Micah, Mariah, Montannah, Miranda and McKinleigh.

In addition to his parents, Steven was preceded in death by his brother, George David Russell and granddaughter, Candace Marie Russell.
