Steven Brown

Indianapolis - Steven "Steve" Brown, 64, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023. He was born June 30, 1958 in Indianapolis to the late Robert and Betty Wilmoth Brown. Steve owned and operated his own businesses for many years. He started with a towing company and eventually moved into used car sales.

Additionally, he raced at the Indianapolis Speedrome for many years with his race car chief, Daniel Senteney, by his side. They won many races and several championships. After his years of racing, Steve continued to build cars of his own with drives he loved and chose to race for himself and other drivers. A few of those drivers were: Larry, Speedy, Rodney, Tim and many others. He loved spending time with his family and his racing family. Steve had a special place in his heart for others. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Betty Wilmoth Brown; step-father, Harold Payne; daughter, Wendy; and sisters, Kathy and Peggy. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara Brown; daughters: Michelle, Lisa (Jimmy), Theresa (Doug), Kim, Stephanie (Clayton), Liz (Roger), Brittany (Zach) and Ashley; son-in-law, Kevin Smith; siblings: Judy, Roy, James (Bonnie) and Patty (Johnny); 18 grandchildren: Ronnie, Megan, Cortney, Michaela, Mark, Corey, Brandon, Stevie, Willis, Dalton, Dillon, Danielle, Matthew, Chandler (CJ), Cheyenne, Keigan, Logan and Kevin (KJ); 14 great-grandchildren: Alex, Levi, Seth, Amyah, Weston, Adalynn, Tessa, Rayleigh (pappy's little nurse as Steve would say), Aleena, Malachi, Kaliba, Dawsyn, Josiah and Journey; and may other beloved family members and dear friends. Angie, Brad, Brittany and Serria Kerner held a special place in his heart.

Steve's family will receive friends Wednesday, March 29, 2023, from 11 am - 1 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of his life will follow at 1 pm at the funeral home. Steve will be laid to rest at New Crown Cemetery, 2101 Churchman Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46203.
