Steven Ray Agal

Indianapolis - Pastor Steven Ray "Steve" Agal, 78, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, January 19, 2023. He was born July 13, 1944 in Beech Grove, IN to the late John Belter and Mary Jane Carpenter Agal. Steve graduated from Beech Grove High School in 1963. He married the love of his life, Janet Gene Jackson Agal, on September 1, 1963.

Steve attended Rose Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute for one year and Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, PA for three years. He graduated from Indiana Bible College in 1972. He was employed by Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions in Indianapolis where he served as a member of the support staff team. Additionally, Steve pastored several churches from 1972 – 2020 and served as a hospice chaplain for 12 years.

Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Janet Gene Jackson Agal; sons, Kevin Ray Agal and his wife Deborah Ann Gibson Agal and Timothy Ray Agal and his wife, Donna Sue McAlister Agal; grandchildren: Michael Christopher Agal, Jessica Lynn Agal, Nicholas Daniel Agal, Lisa Elko and TJ Elko; great grandchildren, Jakob Poore and Emma Elko; and many other loving family members and dear friends.

Steve's family will receive friends Thursday, January 26, 2023, from 11 am – 1 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of his life will follow at 1 pm at the funeral home. A committal service will follow at Concordia Cemetery.
