Stephen Allen McKee, peacefully passed away on July 25, 2024 in his hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born on March 20, 1942, in Lebanon, Indiana, to his loving parents, Cecil McKee and the late Evelyn Coy.


During his tenure as a custodian from 1969 to 1987 at Warren Township Schools, Stephen dedicated himself to maintaining the school's environment, leaving a lasting impact on the students and staff alike. His commitment to his work was a testament his strong work ethic and avering dedication to his community.


Stephen's fondest memories included embarking on family road trips, creating cherished moments that will forever be treasured by his children and grandchildren. In his free time, he found solace in collecting figurines, pocket watches, knives, and John Wayne memorabilia, showcasing his appreciation for unique and timeless pieces. An avid sports enthusiast, Stephen passionately supported the Indianapolis Colts and Pacers, cheering them on with unwavering loyalty.


Stephen's proudest accomplishment was his marriage to Tresa Lane on April 12, 1980, at Smith Valley Baptist Church in Greenwood, Indiana. Together, they shared a bond built on love and mutual respect, creating a strong foundation for their family.


In his passing, Stephen is survived by his children Brian McKee, Terri Rucker, and Stephanie (James) Okey; brother Donald (Carolyn) McKee; grandchildren Charles McKee, Justin and Rose Okey; granddog Buttercup Rucker; nieces and nephews Michael McKee, Peggy Warren, Andrea and Angela Olmstead; great-nieces and nephews Amy, Shelby, Dillon McKee, Alyssa Sibermann, Tiffany and Bobby Warren, Abby, Angel, and Ariel Sherfick; and many great-great-nieces and nephews.


He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Tresa McKee; daughter Rhonda McKee; nephew Dave McKee; and his grandparents, who await him in eternal peace.


Stephen will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. May his kind spirit, generous heart, and unwavering love live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind. Rest in peace, Stephen Allen McKee.
