Indianapolis - Sandra Mae Horner Logan, 81, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2022. She was born August 6, 1940 in Indianapolis to the late Roy Love Horner and Alma Pearl Horner Graham. She was a member of Nativity Catholic Church.
She attended Holy Name Catholic School in Beech Grove (the town she fondly referred to as Mayberry). She was a 1958 graduate of Scecina Memorial High School. Sandy married the late William Patrick Logan in 1959 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Beech Grove. She was employed by St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove (Mayberry) in the 1950s and by an insurance company in the 1960s. Sandy also served as a babysitter. Her family described her as a very caring and emotional person who loved being with her family and friends, helping others and talking on the phone.
Sandy was a great cook and everyone really enjoyed her baked macaroni and cheese. Her hobbies included going to garage sales and playing euchre, Scrabble and word games. She loved Billy Graham, her family and friends, The Young and the Restless, animals and game shows, particularly The Wheel of Fortune. She also loved Halloween and Christmas. Sandy also enjoyed attending birthday parties, spending time with her dogs and cats, watching movies, going for walks and dancing. She was a past member of the Euchre Club, Widow's Club and Over 50 Club. She loved Jesus and Elvis.
She is survived by her son Chris Logan; special cousin (who was more like a daughter), Gina Champion and her husband, Bobby; brother, Gary Horner and his wife, Becky, sister-in-law, Helen Manley; nieces and nephews; Ashley, Robby, Tiffany, Stacy, Katie, Mary and Tom; several great nieces and great nephews; and many other beloved family members and friends.
Sandy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Patrick Logan; daughter, Colleen Kay Logan; and parents, Roy Love Horner and Alma Pearl Horner Graham.
Sandy's family will receive friends Thursday, March 31, 2022, from 12 – 2 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of her life will follow at 2 pm at the funeral home. A committal service will be conducted at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wheeler Mission, 2730 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46225 or God's Bounty, Inc, 8946 Southeastern Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46239.
