Indianapolis - Sandra F. Good, 81, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2020. She was born June 15, 1939 in Pittsburg, PA to the late Roy H. Friel and Eleanor Elizabeth Landfair. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO for one year then transferred to Robert Morris Secretarial School in Pittsburg, PA.
Sandy married her high school sweetheart in 1959 and moved to Bermuda where he was stationed in the United States Navy. While living in Chillicothe, OH, Sandy attended Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. She made the 50 mile commute while her two children were in school. She earned her bachelor's degree in business administration in 1969.
After her divorce, Sandy moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1970 where she eventually became the first woman sales manager in the advertising field there. In 1986, then Governor Richard Celeste of Ohio, declared that 1986 was the Year of the Older Woman. This was a campaign Sandy and her friend, Barb Nielsen, developed to dispel the historic misnomer of middle age. Even though she had her own business in Columbus, she moved to Indianapolis, IN in 1998 to be closer to her family. She retired from Dow Agro Sciences in 2007.
Sandy is survived by her daughter, Janice Tandy and her husband, Doug, of Indianapolis, IN; son, David Good of Coppell, TX; brother, Gene Friel, of Pittsburg, PA; half-sisters: Lindsay Zierolf, Sidney McHugh and Patty Friel, all of Cincinnati, OH; granddaughters, Sara McKay and her husband, Cody, of Indianapolis, IN and Grace Josey and her husband, John, of Camden, SC; grandson, Kevin Tandy and his fiancé, Angela Cochran, of Indianapolis, IN; great granddaughters, Mya Tandy and Cali McKay of Indianapolis, IN; and many other beloved family members and dear friends.
