Ruth Elaine Mathus

Indianapolis – Ruth Elaine (Aikman) Mathus, age 70, passed away at 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at her residence with her loving husband by her side. She was born to the late Steven and Myrtle (Walden) Rucker on March 25, 1951 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Ruth was united in marriage on October 12, 1996 to Thomas J. Mathus in Indianapolis, Indiana.

She graduated from Lawrence Central High School, class of 1971. Ruth enjoyed fishing and gardening. She loved the outdoors and getting to know people.

She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Thomas J. Mathus; her children, Jason Hicks, James Hicks and Shane Mathus; and her grandchildren, Ruth Ann Hicks, Jay Hicks and Matthew Dean Hicks.

Ruth's friends and family may visit from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. The funeral service will be follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jason Butterick officiating.

Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Chambersville Cemetery, 9 North County Line Road East, Spencer, Indiana 47460.
