Rose Blaylock, 84, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 31, 2024, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 10, 1940, in Indianapolis, IN, she was the cherished daughter of the late Hershel and Fannie Groce.
On April 6, 1957, Rose married Ernest Ivan “Jim” Blaylock, with whom she shared a remarkable 57 years of love and companionship until his passing on March 12, 2015. Rose was a dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Her family was the center of her world.
A faithful member of the Tabernacle of Faith for several years, Rose was a believer for over 54 years. She was a devoted wife and homemaker, who took great joy in cooking and shopping, particularly at Wal-Mart and Goodwill. Her love for travel and her sweet tooth were well known among her family. Rose was fiercely protective of her children and grandchildren, and while she spoke her mind, she ensured that no one else dared to criticize them.
Rose is survived by her seven children: Mike Blaylock, Thresa (Jim) Sprague, Mark (Kim) Blaylock, Roxanne (William) Hasty, Deborah (Roger) Wasson, Joe Blaylock, and Terri (James) Mullinix. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and 3 bonus great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents and her siblings: Will Ed, Lucille, Ruby, Paul, and Wanda.
Rose’s family will receive friends Wednesday, November 6, 2024, from 10:30 am – 1:30 pm at Tabernacle of Faith at 2830 South Holt Road Indianapolis, IN 46241. A celebration of her life will be conducted at 1:30 pm with her daughter, Pastor Terri Mullinix officiating. A committal service will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.
Rose Blaylock will be remembered for her unwavering love, her warm spirit, and the joy she brought to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
