Ronald Joe Nordhoff, born on September 15, 1946, in Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025, in his beloved hometown. Ronald was the son of Charles and Hilda Nordhoff. Hilda passed away when Ronald was very young and he was raised by his father’s second wife, Beulah. He was a cherished member of his family and a respected figure in the community, remembered for his sharp memory, good sense of humor, and kind-hearted nature.
Ronald had a diverse career, having worked for Davidson's Lumber Company and Allison Transmission. Throughout his life, he exemplified a strong work ethic and dedication to his professions. He was also known for being strong-willed, a trait that served him well both personally and professionally.
In addition to his work, Ronald had a deep passion for horses and in his younger years, he participated in barrel racing. He also enjoyed visiting the picturesque countryside where his parents had grown up in Southern Indiana. These experiences shaped his love for the outdoors and fostered a sentimental appreciation for the simple pleasures in life. Additionally, Ronald enjoyed watching NASCAR, the Indy 500, and horse racing. He took immense pride in his role as an uncle, holding a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews. Ronald's love for them was evident, and they will remember him not only for the fond memories created but also for the lessons imparted through his actions and words.
Ronald is survived by his loving sister Carolyn (David) Brown, brother Robert (Benita) Nordhoff, and another sister Kathleen Hedges, alongside several nieces and nephews who will forever carry his legacy forward. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Nordhoff; his birth mother, Hilda Nordhoff; Beulah Nordhoff; and his brother, Richard Nordhoff.
