Ronald L. Holmes

Ronald Louis Holmes, age 70 of Greenwood, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis following an extended illness. He was born July 4, 1951 the son of John Holmes and Patricia (Claxon) Burks. Ronald was a 1969 graduate of John Marshall High School in Indianapolis. Following high school graduation, he studied at Ball State University and got a bachelor's degree in criminal justice in 1973. While in Ball State, Ronald was one of the founding fathers of the Ball State Chapter of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He later obtained his master's degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. Ronald worked for the Blackford County Sheriff's Department, Indianapolis Airport Police Department, and later worked for the Wayne Township School Corporation. Ronald enjoyed working on computers and working on all things involving technology. He liked going to eat at his favorite restaurant, Bar Louie, going to concerts, and NASCAR. More than anything, Ronald loved to spend time with his family and friends, and especially his grandchildren.

Ronald's family includes 3 sons, Shawn (wife Jennifer) Holmes, Chad (wife Kendra) Holmes, and Ian (wife Monique) Holmes; mother, Patricia Burks; step-mother, Brenda; 2 sisters, Melinda (husband Herman) King and Melissa (husband Tom) Conrad; brother, Brian (wife Paula) Holmes; 7 grandchildren, Maddison (husband Seth) Crandall, Brendon Holmes, Wyatt Holmes, Tyler Holmes, Kaleigh Holmes, Preston Holmes, and Elias Holmes; and several nieces and nephews. Ronald was preceded in death by his father, John Holmes and step-father, Clarence Burks.

A funeral celebrating Ronald's life will be held at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Newcomer Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Pabody of New Life Church officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 PM prior to the service on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in honor of Ronald to the American Diabetes Association.
