Robert "Bob" Harold Shock

April 9, 1966 — January 30, 2025

Sheridan

Robert "Bob" Harold Shock, born on April 9, 1966, in Defiance, Ohio, passed away on January 30, 2025, in Sheridan, Indiana. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose life was marked by a deep commitment to his family and community.

Bob served as a police officer in Sheridan, Indiana, for 20 years, dedicating the last 9 years of that tenure as the Police Chief. His commitment to service extended beyond law enforcement; he also drove a school bus for Sheridan Community School, where he became a comforting presence for many students. Bob's dedication to his community was evident in all he did, earning him the respect and admiration of those around him.

A graduate of Warren Central High School, Class of 1984, he furthered his education at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Session 173 in Plainfield, Indiana. Bob was much more than his professional accomplishments; he was a family man who brought joy and laughter into the lives of those he loved. He had a funny, light-hearted personality, never met a stranger, and embraced every opportunity to spread cheer.

Outside of work, Bob was an accomplished craftsman, with a remarkable talent for woodworking. He could envision an object from a mere picture and construct it from memory, even building his own sawmill based on images he had studied. His craftsmanship extended to modern technology as well, as he enjoyed making items on his 3D printer.

Bob had a passion for a variety of activities. He enjoyed coaching girls' softball and was actively involved in 4H. His love for animals shone through as he raised goats, chickens, cows, ducks, and pigs. Bob cherished the great outdoors—camping, fishing, and traveling brought him immense joy, with cruising to Aruba being a particular favorite. Additionally, he took delight in grilling hamburgers for home high school football games and driving the school bus to various sporting events.

His proudest accomplishments included being honored with a life-saving award in 2024 and being deeply involved in his children's lives. He celebrated his role as a loving husband to his wife, Debbie (Scolley) Shock, whom he married on December 12, 1987, and as an adoring father to his daughter Jessica (Jordan) Walker and son Steven (Ivy) Shock. His grandchildren Emmett, Grayson, Blakely, Reese, and Nolan were a source of great joy for him, as he relished every moment spent with them.

Bob leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, surrounded by family and friends during his final moments. He is now reunited in peace with his parents, Lawrence Shock and R.J. Bloom, and his grandson, Bennett Michael Walker, who passed away in 2016.

A visitation to honor Bob will be held on February 12, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 6:00 PM, both taking place at Sheridan Six Points Church located at 1545 W. 226th St., Sheridan, Indiana, 46069.

Bob's spirit will forever be cherished in the hearts of those he touched, and his impact on the community will be fondly remembered.
