Rita Joan Mcdougalle

Greencastle – Rita Joan Cantrell McDougalle, 68, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2022. She was born August 13, 1954 in Indianapolis to the late Clayton and Anna Constant Cantrell. She graduated from Beech Grove High School in 1972. She enjoyed serving her community by driving a school bus in Franklin Township and Beech Grove.

Rita's hobbies included listening to music, singing and camping. She also loved monkeys. Her family was her world and she loved her kids and grandkids. Additionally, she enjoyed shooting pool, bowling, spending a little time at the casino and shopping at Walmart. She was a member of the Beech Grove chapters of the Moose Lodge and the American Legion.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband, James Harlan; her parents, Clayton and Anna Constant Cantrell; and her brothers, Bob Hood and Daniel Webster. She is survived by her children: Caitlin McDougalle, Cody (Kelsey) McDougalle, Cameron McDougalle and Ciara McDougalle; sisters, Darla Woodland and her husband, Woody and Brenda Hood; grandchildren: Hayden McDougalle, Hazleigh Shaffer, Paisley Duggar and Cameron McDougalle, Jr.; niece, Lanna (Clint) Smith and their 3 children; nephew, Sean Hood; and many other beloved family members and dear friends.

Rita's family will receive friends Tuesday, December 13, 2022, from 3 – 7 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of her life will be conducted Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at 10 am at the funeral home.
