Richard H. "Dick" Winzenread, 80, passed peacefully at his home on November 5th, 2019. He was born in Indianapolis, IN to the late William "Hobe" and Dorothy (Quackenbush). Richard attended Arsenal Tech High School before enlisting in the Marine Corp. in 1955 where he served our country proudly. On July 16, 1960 Richard married Leah (Soult) in Indianapolis. Richard worked as a carpenter for over ten years before working as a Body Shop Manager for Dave Mason Lincoln Mercury and Shadeland Dodge. After retiring in 1993, he started Winzenread Custom Homes.
He was passionately involved with Little League Baseball (ICLL) for over 40 years, both coaching and active in various positions on the board. He also served on the Little League Board of Directors for District 7. He was awarded District 7 Little League Volunteer of the Year as well as the WRTV Leadership Award. He was proud that his son was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 1986. He also enjoyed following the Lawrence North HS Baseball teams that his son has coached since 1992.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sally Clancy. He is survived by his adoring wife Leah; children: Kim (Scott) Wright, Richard (Laura) Winzenread, Jill Slavens, and Nancy Rust; brothers, Charles "Chick" (Kathy) Winzenread and Mark (Debbie) Winzenread. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; his dog, Buster; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
