Paul Richard Gathard

MORRISTOWN – Paul Richard Gathard, 71, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 26, 2022. He was born to the late Wilbert Paul and Doris Helen (Sandidge) Gathard on April 17, 1951 in Springfield, Illinois. Paul spent many years as an Insurance Agent before transitioning to a successful career in Software Programming. He was a member of New Life Church for 38 years and NRA.

Paul graduated from Springfield High School in 1969. He was united in marriage on September 15, 1973 to Judith Ann Bailey at Mitchell Presbyterian Church in Mitchell, Indiana and she passed away on June 10, 2022.

Paul's hobbies included golfing, reading, home improvement projects, singing, working out with his grandson and going to the gun range. He enjoyed traveling and church mission trips to Argentina and Togo, West Africa. Paul loved his children, grandchildren, the Lord and his New Life Church family.

Paul is survived by his daughter, Amy Garthwaite and her husband, Grant; son, Ryan Gathard and his wife, Katie; grandchildren: Olivia Garthwaite, Noah Garthwaite, Addie Gathard, Mia Garthwaite, Jack Gathard, Anna Garthwaite, Sarah Garthwaite and Julia Garthwaite; sister, Margo Orum; brother, Ben Gathard; and many other loving family members and dear friends. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by the love of his life, Judith Ann Gathard.


Paul's friends and family may visit from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at New Life Church, 7010 East Thompson Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46239. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM with Pastor Doug Pabody officiating. Interment will follow at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown, Indiana.
