Indianapolis - Nathan "Nate" D. Smith, 26, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 2, 2022. Nathan was born March 31, 1996 to Doug Smith and Sabrina (Stewart) Swinehart. He was a 2014 graduate of Franklin Central High School. Nathan was currently working for Crossroads Dairy in Indianapolis. He enjoyed reading, cooking, and keeping up with all current events.
Nathan liked to play the stock market and loved learning about finances. He could always find a way to make people laugh and cheer them up. Nathan liked stand up comedy, going to the gun range, and playing Call of Duty with his friends. He was a true Boston Red Sox baseball fan; Phoenix Suns and Pacers basketball fan; and a Notre Dame and Alabama Football fan. Nathan enjoyed being outdoors hiking, traveling, and he always dreamed of going skydiving. He loved his family and friends more than anything in the world and would do anything to help others. Nathan was an outstanding son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend.
Nathan's family includes his mother, Sabrina Swinehart; God mother, Lisa Jones; mother of the heart, Regina Jones; father, Doug (Holly) Smith; 2 sisters, Victoria (Josh Hodges) Swinehart and Courtney (Lucas Sr.) Brown; 5 brothers Joey Ingram, Spencer Proffer, Jacob Riley Proffer, Keagan Smith, and Finnley Smith; grandparents, David and Inez Stewart, Donna Smith, and Terry and Jody Smith; great-grandfather, Charles and Lenis Smith; 3 aunts, Julie Branson, Michelle Smith, and Terri Lynn Smith; nieces and nephews, Hazelle, Henry, Adelyn, Lucas Jr., Annelise, Bowen, and Charlotte; numerous cousins; numerous aunts and uncles; and numerous friends and extended family members.
Nathan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Linda "Moofy" and Ken Jones; great-grandmother, Mary Smith; and uncle, Brian Holder.
A funeral service celebrating Nathan's life will be held at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227 with Pastor Rusty Mobley officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 pm prior to the service on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help offset unexpected funeral expenses. There will be a meal following his funeral service at Gateway Automotive, 7408 Madison Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46227. On the day of the service, there will be a live streaming link on this obituary page for all family and friends who are unable to attend to watch the funeral service to honor Nathan's life.
