Indianapolis - Nancy M. Collins, 86, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018.
Ms. Collins was born August 17, 1932 in West Hamlin, WV. She lost her husband when she was young and raised nine children by herself. She served her family as a homemaker.
Ms. Collins worked for N.E.S.C.O. (Near East Side Community Organization) for two years. She earned her GED after her children were older. Additionally, she worked for years as a cleaning lady for several apartment complexes and offices. Later in life, she enjoyed doing crafts at home and spending time with her family. Her children and grandchildren were what she lived for. Her love was what held her family together.
Ms. Collins was preceded in death by her husband: William Levi Collins; two children: Carolyn Donahue and Donald Collins. She is survived by her daughters, Beverly Edinger, Nina Jones, Debra Collins and Teresa Hammons; sons, Roger, James and Michael Collins; mother, Sarah McSweeney; brother, James Kelly; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends.
Ms. Collins' family will receive friends Thursday, December 27, 2018, from 4 – 8 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of her life will be conducted Friday, December 28, 2018, at 10 am at the funeral home with Rev. Danny Thomas officiating. A committal service will follow at New Crown Cemetery.
