Michael C. "Mike" Tyler, age 60 of Indianapolis passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born August 22, 1962 in Indianapolis, the son of Charles Edward and Frances Tyler. Mike was self-employed as a contractor for all of his life. Mike was a member of the Shepherd Community Church of the Nazarene and was also an ordained minister. He was a well-rounded man who loved Jesus, his dogs, his truck and helping anybody in need. Mike liked to watch crime stories on television, collecting skulls and going to the race track. He enjoyed spending time with his best friend, Bubby. He was known to everyone as Uncle Mike and will be remembered as a loving man who would help anybody at any time.
Mike is survived by 5 children, Melissa Tyler, Kelly (Larr) Scrougham, Teresa Kriete, Michael Tyler, Jr. and Chris Hatfield; 5 siblings, Mark Parsley, Kevin Tyler, Darla Parsley-Brown, Lisa Tyler and Charla Parsley-Buntain; 8 grandchildren, Haleigh Hashman, Christian Graham, Connor Graham, Ryan Sherfick, Gage Michael Tyler, Vincent Tyler, Joseph Tyler and Arron Prosser-Tyler; granddaughter due in July; life-long best friend, Teddy Wallace; fur babies, Silver, Precious and Lucy; numerous nieces and nephews; and several extended family, friends and chosen family by love.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Charles Parsley; love of his life, Diana Adams in 2022; and 3 siblings, Kenny Tyler, Tom Tyler and Janice Tyler.
A funeral service celebrating Mike's life will take place at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 9, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 E. Hanna Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46227. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service from 11:00 – 1:00 pm on Monday, January 9, 2023. Burial will follow the funeral at New Crown Cemetery in Indianapolis.
