Michael Wayne "Uncle Mike" Steele

Carmel - Michael Wayne Steele, 61, known as “Uncle Mike” to many, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023. He was born December 3, 1961 in Indianapolis to the late Leslie and Rosemary Grider Steele. Mike was an artist. His hobbies included painting, football and spending time outdoors. He loved his family, art, birdwatching and feeding animals.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Leslie Darrell Steele; mother, Rosemary Grider Steele; and brothers: Leslie Darrell Steele, Jr., Steven Dale Steele, Malcolm Steele, Clinton Steele and Charles Allen Steele. He is survived by his long-time companion, Beverley Diane Allen; children, Shawn Silva and Tabby (whom he thought of as a daughter); brothers, Terry Ray Steele and Howard Lee Steele, Sr.; lots of nieces and nephews; and many other beloved family members and friends.

Mike’s family will receive friends Monday, November 20, 2023, from 1 - 3 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of his life will follow at 3 pm.
