Merl L. Fields, Jr.

Fortville, IN - Merl L. Fields, Jr., 77, passed away Monday, August 7, 2023. He was born July 23, 1946 in Spencer County, IN to the late Merl L. and Catherine L. (Pierce) Fields. He was employed by Universal Tool and Engineering for several years where he served as an electrician.

Merl was an avid softball player in his younger years. He liked taking long rides on his Harley or in his Corvette. He also enjoyed watching his grandkids play sports and taking leisurely walks around town. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, sibling, and friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Merl was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pamela K. Fields; brother, Randy Fields; father, Merl L. Fields, Sr.; and mother, Catherine L. Fields. He is survived by his children: Billy Fields and his wife, Jamie, Donald Fields, and Kimberly Stites; siblings: Jeffrey A. Fields, Kathy (Fields) Haskett, Karen (Fields) Mattox, Tina (Fields) Fish, Nancy (Fields) Ladd, and John Fields; 6 grandchildren; and many other loving family members and devoted friends.

Merl's family will receive friends Friday, August 18, 2023, from 12 – 1 pm in the chapel at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, 9088 West 1025 South, Fortville, IN 46040. A celebration of his life will follow at 1:00 pm.
