Mary Frances Stephens

INDIANAPOLIS – Mary Frances Napier Stephens, 73, entered into rest at 3:19 PM on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Louie Clay and Selma Frances Miller Napier. Mary was born on August 5, 1949 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was united in marriage on May 16, 1992 to the late Jerry Stephens in Pendleton, Indiana.

Mary was a competitive Yahtzee player and beat her sisters every time they played. Mary and her sisters have played 1,956 games of Yahtzee since December 1, 2022. She cherished spending time with her great-great nieces, Addi and Sophia. Mary had a bright personality that was well displayed through her choices of hair color. She loved coloring her hair in fun colors like pink, blue and purple. She enjoyed fishing and boating with her late husband, Jerry. She also enjoyed being outdoors and working in the yard. Mary especially loved to cut the grass and ride on the John Deere tractor.

She attended Lebanon High School. Mary was a member of the American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles. She was a homemaker, loving mother, sister and aunt. Mary and her late husband, Jerry owned and operated Jerry's Auto Service in Indianapolis, Indiana for many years. Additionally, she worked part-time as a general laborer for Inland Container with her sister Wilma Allen.

Mary is survived by her loving sons, James Ronald "Ron" Dean Jr. and Charles Arthur (Randy) Musser III; her sister, Wilma Napier Allen and Alma Napier Hamblin; her brother, Donald Louie Napier; as well as her nieces and nephews: Adam Gossett, Samantha Vibbert, Taylor McIlquham, Jessica Napier, Whitney Hamblin, Becky Elkins Ford, Jimmy Brown, Sophia McIlquham, Addison McIlquham, Michelle Napier, David Napier, Philip Napier, Tonya Kilgore, Brin Hamblin, Donnie Napier, Ryder Gilpin, Roscoe Ford, Desi Loomis, Billy Ford, Cameron Loomis, Luke Pence and Logan Pence.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Alice A. McDaniel and brother, George Alan Napier.

Mary's family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Monday, February 13, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 PM at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227 with Mike Hamblin officiating. Interment will follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens Cemetery, 6851 South Indianapolis Road, Whitestown, Indiana 46075.
