Mary Louise Marlow

July 27, 1956 — January 16, 2020

Indianapolis - Mary Louise Moore Marlow, 63, passed away suddenly Thursday, January 16, 2020. She was born July 27, 1956 in Indianapolis to the late William R. "Bill" and M. Anita Snow Moore and was raised in a large and loving family in Franklin Township. After graduating Franklin Central High School in 1974, she continued her formal education at IUPUI. While working and raising a family, she was proud to have earned two Bachelor's Degrees, one in Economics, the second in English, a Graduate Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language and finally a Master's Degree in Non-profit Management. In her professional years, she worked and served others at Healthy Families, Kroger, Kemba Credit Union and Ivy Tech.

Mary was an avid collector, loved to read and was an award winning writer. Her passion for writing meant she was always journaling, even if it wasn't evident in the moment, creatively putting her thoughts and experiences to paper. She would share them with her "Aubrey Writers" writing group of which she was a founding member and that was so important to her. Mary's love of and broad taste in music meant that she was as likely to play a song you hadn't heard of as she was to know the words to everyone's favorite tune. She associated music with the people, places and phases of her life and because she shared that with us, we will have her soundtrack to listen to for the rest of ours.

To see Mary in person meant you were greeted with a hug and her wonderful smile. She knew just how to get a smile in return too, whether it was with kind words of encouragement, using her keen sense of humor to lighten the mood or telling a fun story that made you laugh. And if that didn't work, handing you a bag of her homemade Chex mix probably would. She has been such a fixture and witness to our life events and milestones. She demonstrated her devotion to friends and family by being there so often to support and spend time with us.

Over the years, in any given week, she might be seated next to you at a musical, singing beside you at a concert, front and center for the children's recital, cheering you on during events or watching you blow out your birthday candles. At family gatherings, she sat with you on the couch to catch up, shared meals at the dinner table then later played games across from you at the card table. She walked with us in the summer at the State Fair, Brown County in the fall and the Gift & Hobby Show before Christmas. She took road trips to see out-of-town family, called us just to say hello and sent text messages to check-in and say I love you. Her presence in our lives cannot be understated. Simply put, her passing has left a hole in the fabric of our family. We were blessed to call her "ours" as she loved us without fail. Our hearts are broken and she will be greatly missed but we will hold tight to the memories we made together forever.

Her spirit is carried on by her children: Susan Walls, Daniel Walls and Brian (Brandy) Marlow, all of Indianapolis, and Jenn (Troy Williams) Marlow of Fishers. She especially loved her role as "Namaw" and will be greatly missed by her beloved grandchildren, Nicholas Barrett, Shawn (Gabi) Reed, Hunter Marlow, Claire and Emma Walls and Everett Williams.

She was the dear sister of Larry (Doris) Moore of Camby, IN, Sally Young of Indianapolis, Caryn (John) Stillman of Plainfield, IL, Jon (Lakay) Moore of Senatobia, MS and Lara (Jeff) Czap of Indianapolis, sister in-law to Jinger (Kevin) Moore Garrison, the cherished aunt to dozens of adored nieces and nephews and a faithful friend to many, too numerous to list, but not forgotten.
She will be reunited with her mother; father; brother, David Moore; and brother in-law, Kenneth Young, Jr. who passed on before her.

Mary's family will receive friends Monday, January 27, 2020 from 4:00 pm-8:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis IN 46227. A celebration of her life will be conducted Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at 11:00 am at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, IN.

In lieu of flowers, in continuing her legacy of sharing joy and loving children, Mary's family requests that you consider a donation, in her memory, to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program https://indianapolis-in.toysfortots.org (Mary's father was a founding member of the Indianapolis chapter).
