Mary Jean Burgess, 81, of Greenwood passed away on May 11, 2018. Mary was born on October 26, 1936 in Scottsville, Kentucky to Robert and Bertha (Douglas) Lantz.
Mary loved life and loved celebrating it with others; she was known for having a good dirty martini to celebrate a good day at the casino or just to be with her friends and family. Mary was a person to have conversation with a stranger and they were not a stranger for long.
She retired from Yellow Freight in 2002 and enjoyed her retirement to its fullest.
Mary is survived by sons and their wives: Mark & Judy Burgess; Greg & Vickie Burgess; grandchildren: Josh, Daniel, Sarah, Clinton, Kelly; great-grandchildren: Jackson, Devyn, Jayce, Khloe, Kaylan; and a host of other family and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband: Edwin Richard Burgess.
Her Celebration of Life service will be on Saturday, May 19, 2018 starting at 4:30 P.M. with the ceremony at 5 P.M. at the Altenheim Senior Living Center in located at 3525 E Hanna Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46237 in the Atrium.
Interment of her urn will be at Forest Lawn at a later date.
