Indianapolis - Marguerite Veronica Williams, 75, went home to be with her Lord Saturday, May 1, 2021. She was born March 20, 1946 in Gary, IN to the late Thomas and Dorothy Williams. Ms. Marguerite received all her formal education in the Gary public school system where she exceled in academics. She graduated from Roosevelt High School. She was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army where she served with distinction during the Vietnam War. She was drafted into service as a soldier and was discharged three years later as a general's secretary.
Ms. Marguerite was baptized in the name of Jesus at an early age. During her life, she served Jesus and did the best she could for all her loved ones. She never gave up. She had a strong and committed relationship with her Savior. She read her Bible every day and loved going to church.
Left to cherish Ms. Marguerite's memory are her son, Pastor David Williams and his wife, Tasha; daughter, Ornella Joyner-Moss and her husband, Derrick; sister, Veronica Webster and her husband, Richard; and many other loving family members and dear friends.
Ms. Marguerite's family will receive friends Saturday, May 8, 2021, from 12 – 2 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of her life will follow at 2 pm at the funeral home with her son, Pastor David Williams and Bishop Brian Washington officiating. Her daughter-in-law, Tasha, will be performing "Take Me to the King" and "It Is Good to Know Jesus" as well as "His Eye is on the Sparrow" accompanied by Jody. Military honors will be conducted by members of the Indiana National Guard, Color Guard. A committal service will be conducted Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at 2 pm at Marion National Cemetery, 1700 East 38th Street, Marion, IN 46953.
