Leslie H Rush Jr., age 80, of Indianapolis. affectionately known as "Hall," was born on December 25, 1943, in Burkesville, Kentucky. He passed away peacefully on October 24 2024, in Indianapolis, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and cherished memories.
Leslie dedicated over 30 years of his career to serving as Bus Driver for Indygo, retiring in 2000. Throughout his career, he earned various safe driving awards, a testament to his commitment and professionalism in his work. His outgoing personality shone through in every aspect of his life; Leslie was known as a storyteller who could light up a room with his humor. He had an incredible ability to connect with others, never meeting a stranger and always willing to lend a hand to those in need.
One of Leslie's proudest accomplishments was marrying Cathie (Booher) Lane on September 25, 1965 in Tennessee. They enjoyed 59 years together. Their union was a testament to her belief in love and family, standing as a shining example to her children and grandchildren alike.
Family was central to Leslie's life; he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, Jordan, Jacob, Jarrett, Annie, and Shawn, as well as his great-grandchildren, Lezlie, Benton, Bailey, and Kenley. He found joy in simple pleasures, notably fishing and playing cards with his loved ones, creating countless fond memories that will be cherished forever.
As a Master Mason raised in West Indy, Leslie was a proud member of the Scottish Rite in Indianapolis and also was a member of the Capital City Conversation Club. His generosity and helpful spirit left a mark on everyone he met.
He is survived by his loving sons, Leslie H. Rush III and Gary Rush, two treasured sisters, Jewell Riley and Joann Groce, along with several nieces and nephews who will all miss him dearly. Leslie was preceded in death by his wife, Cathie Lane; father, Leslie H. Rush Sr., his mother, Pansy (Watson) Rush, and four brothers: Herman Rush, Lloyd Rush, Royster Rush, and Randolph Rush.
A visitation will take place on October 31, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 925 E Hanna Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46227, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Leslie will then be laid to rest at 2:30 PM at the burial site located at 2703 South Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46225.
Leslie H Rush Jr. will be remembered for his loving nature, sense of humor, and the indelible impressions he made on the hearts of those around him. His spirit will live on in the lives he touched and in the loving memories held by his family and friends.
