Laura Lea Sorrels

Laura Lea Sorrels, age 50 of Indianapolis, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023. She was born February 3, 1973 in Vincennes, Indiana the daughter of Mark Andrews and Gina (Haywood) Andrews-Petty. Laura was a member of the class of 1991 at Speedway High School. She earned her degree in medical assisting in 1994 from Kaplan College Medical Assisting School. Laura was very artistically gifted at making crafts, making jewelry, drawing and writing. She loved to watch butterflies and had the spirit of one as she loved the beautifulness of life. More than anything, Laura loved to spend time with her family especially her grandchildren.

Laura is survived by her daughter, Brookelynn N. Turk; son, Jacob D. Crocker; sister, Amber (Daniel Murphy) Andrews; 4 grandchildren, Jaramiah Wetzel, Maylee Wetzel, Jazilyn Wetzel and Jacob Crocker; step-father, Richard Petty; nephew, Justice Beswick; and great niece, Leilani J. Beswick.

Laura is preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law, Billy Wetzel.

A memorial service celebrating Laura's life will take place at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, 925 E. Hanna Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46227. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 to 3:00 pm on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 prior to the service.
