Kenneth Joseph York, Sr.

Indianapolis - Kenneth Joseph York, Sr., 78, passed away Monday, August 7, 2023. He was born January 2, 1945 in Indianapolis to the late Wilbert Emmett and Betty Jean Cosat York. Kenneth was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Navy where he served in Vietnam. He was employed by Allison Transmission where he served as a machinist. He was a member of UAW.

Kenneth's hobbies included building cars in his garage, watching baseball (particularly the New York Yankees) and fishing. He loved his family. Additionally, he enjoyed working around his house and in his yard and attending car shows.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his father, Wilbert Emmett York; mother, Betty Jean Cosat York; brother, Michael York; and granddaughter, Brittany York. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lu Ann York; children: Kim York Watkins, Kelly Mead, Sarah Hisaw, Sidney Price and Kenneth York, Jr.; grandchildren: Tony York, Dillon York, O.J. Gregory, Jennifer Gregory-Mandy, Ayden Hurley, Sadie Bennett, Ryleigh Price, Alexander Price and Mason Price; and many other loving family members and dear friends.

Kenneth's family will receive friends Friday, August 11, 2023, from 11 am – 1 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Reception, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of his life will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home chapel. A committal service will be conducted at Washington Park East Cemetery.
