Plainfield - Kenneth Ray Burnett, 74, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, August 24, 2020. He was born January 26, 1946 in Monrovia, IN to Walter and Eva McKinney Burnett. He met the love of his life, Judith Kay Weekly, when they were just 12 and 13 years old. They married at 18 and 19. He was a long-time member of Chapel Rock Christian Church.
Ken was a dignified and refined gentleman who was well respected by all who knew him. He was the owner and operator of Polished Brass, the barber shop located in the Indianapolis Athletic Club, for over 40 years. He provided the best haircut in town. Many people in the Indianapolis area trusted him to keep them looking their best, including Peyton Manning who was his friend and client for 7 years while he was playing for the Colts.
Ken lived by the Golden Rule, found in Matthew 7:12 and Luke 6:31, and taught his daughters to do the same. He enjoyed Colt's football, fishing and warm, sunny days at the beach. He also enjoyed euchre and was a master player. After his retirement, Ken became an excellent cook and baker. He loved and cherished his family. He never missed sending them cards on birthdays and always found ways to make Christmas extra special for them.
Ken was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judith Kay Weekly Burnett; parents, Walter and Eva McKinney Burnett; brothers, Larry and Walt Burnett; and sister, Doris Wilson. He is survived by his daughters, Debra K. Stewart and Brenda R. Salla; grandchildren: Kevin, Kayle, Karalyn and Khloe Stewart and Caitlin and Caleb Salla; great-grandchildren: Avery, Jackson, Brody and Reese; and many other loving family members and dear friends.
