CLINTON – Karen Sue (Simpson) Milliner, 58, passed away at 6:40 PM on Sunday, December 31, 2023 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana surrounded by loved ones. She was born on April 13, 1965 to the late Ralph Vernon and Rita Cathleene (Basso) Simpson in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Karen graduated from North Putnam High School, class of 1983. She was united in marriage on January 23, 1993 to James Leon Milliner in Indianapolis, Indiana. Professionally, Karen worked as a data entry clerk for Covance from 2004 to 2010. She also was a band manager for her family for 23 years. Karen was passionate about helping the VFW and Mitochondria Foundation in her spare time.

Karen’s hobbies were sewing, baking, singing along to the radio, collecting bells and playing solitaire. She was a Trump and music enthusiast. Karen was an avid fan of all things Disney. She enjoyed seeing live music and spending time with her family. Karen also enjoyed taking care of her animals and stressing over her sons’ wild decisions. She loved family time and especially hearing her husband and son play music. Karen’s favorite things were Mickey Mouse and hummingbirds.

She was strong willed, hard headed and unbelievably smart. Karen was always blunt and honest whether you liked it or not. She was the type of person to help anyone in need. Most of all, Karen was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed.

Karen is survived by her loving husband, James Leon Milliner; sons, Tyler Milliner & his wife Emily and Richie Milliner & his wife Jennifer; daughters, Laura Wade & her husband Matt and Missy Milliner & her significant other Jason; siblings, James, Danny and Phil Simpson; grandchildren: Chris, Olivia, Chasta, Connor, Landen and Madison; and great grandchildren: Wylie, Tanner, Audrey, Colton and Charlee. In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her daughter, Ashlee Renee Simpson; sisters, Anne Simpson and Rose E. Rose; and brother, Tim Simpson.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. The memorial service will follow at 1:00 PM at Newcomer.
