Karen Rose Keaton

Karen Rose Keaton, born on June 7, 1946, in Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024, at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, Indiana. Karen's life was defined by her dedication to her career, family, and community.

She pursued her education in nursing at IUPUI, where she laid the foundation for a successful career. Over the years, Karen worked as a nurse in Florida and Indiana, where her passion for healthcare shone through. She served as a director of nursing and a charge nurse before her well-deserved retirement in 2008. Known for her "take charge" personality and exceptional problem-solving skills, Karen was a cherished colleague and mentor in her field.

Beyond her professional achievements, Karen was deeply committed to her family. She is survived by her son, Kelly Keaton, and her beloved grandchildren: Chad, Zachary, Makaley, Taylor Marie, and Jacob Allen. She took great pride in her role as a mother and grandmother, always striving to instill strong values and a sense of independence in her loved ones.

Karen had a vibrant and creative spirit that extended beyond her career. She was heavily involved in politics, passionately advocating for causes she believed in. Additionally, she enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including arts and crafts, sewing, and making quilts. These interests not only showcased her artistic talents but also reflected her desire to enrich the lives of those around her.

Throughout her life, Karen was a self-made person who achieved everything on her own, standing as an example of resilience and determination.

She was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Keaton, and her grandson, Alex Keaton. Their memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family.
