Joyce Faye Marksberry

WHITELAND – Joyce Faye (Tapscott) Marksberry, age 71, passed away at 10:30 PM on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at Franciscan Health Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on August 13, 1950 to the late Delbert and Hettie Lizabeth (Burton) Tapscott in Indianapolis, IN.

Joyce attended Harry E. Wood High School. She was united in marriage on February 21, 1969 to Lonnie Lee Marksberry in Indianapolis, IN. Joyce was a good homemaker her entire life and was fortunate she could stay home to raise her four children. She always told her children, "A Mom is all I ever wanted to be".

She was known for her shopping addiction and large shoe collection. Joyce shopped in-store, QVC online and at yard-sales. In her leisure, Joyce gardened. Joyce enjoyed going to dinner, hanging out with family members and decorating the house. When she was younger, Joyce enjoyed hosting party's and everyone played cards. Joyce loved her husband, children, grandchildren and dog "Bobo" very deeply.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Lonnie Lee Marksberry; her daughters, Tory Bodkins and Marti Holtsclaw; her son, Joshua Marksberry; her brothers, Greg and Frank Tapscott; as well as numerous grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her daughter, Angela Perez and brothers, Dickie and Steve Tapscott.

Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM at Newcomer with Pastor David McColley officiating. Immediately following everyone will meet at Washington Park East Cemetery at 1:30 PM for the committal service.
