John Ray Mitchell

Greencastle – John Ray Mitchell, 66, passed away Friday, September 27, 2019. He was born January 20, 1953 in Indianapolis to the late Arthur and Mildred Hord Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell loved being outdoors, particularly when he was fishing or camping with his family. He enjoyed racing cars, riding the family four wheeler, working in his garage and watching nature and car shows on television. Additionally, he enjoyed working on houses and cars and cooking meals for his family and friends.

Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mildred Hord Mitchell and his brothers, James and David Worton. He is survived by his beloved wife, Robin Mitchell; children: Adriana Mitchell, Shannon Mitchell, Jason Spurrier and his wife, Nora, Kristy Edwards and her husband, Damon and David Spurrier and his girlfriend, Casey Flint; sisters: Edith Perkins and her husband, Floyd, Charlotte Worton, Jackie White, Maggie Lester and her husband, Les and Cindy Miller and her husband, Glenn; brothers: Jake Mitchell and his wife, Trish, Donald Mitchell and his wife, Carolyn, Robert Mitchell and his wife, Bridget and Emery Huffines; grandchildren: Kyle and Kayla Potts, Colton, Nevaeh May and Isaiah Spurrier, Marilyn, Yuna and Auron Andersen and Violet Spurrier-Flint; and many other loving family members and friends.

Mr. Mitchell's family will receive friends Thursday, October 3, 2019, from 12 – 2 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of his life will follow at 2 pm at the funeral home chapel.
