John Thomas "Tom" Martin, a cherished father, devoted husband, and beloved community member, passed away on December 6, 2024, in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the age of 81. Born on March 31, 1943, in Salinas, California, Tom exemplified a life of quiet resilience, boundless love, and enduring spirit.

A faithful soldier, Tom proudly served in the United States Army, a testament to his commitment to his country and community. His career as a buyer for Costco was marked by dedication and integrity, traits that endeared him to colleagues and friends alike. Tom was not only a hard worker but also a man who cherished the simple joys of life. He found solace working in the yard, boating, and spending cherished moments at the lake.

Attending Buckeye High School in Arizona, Tom was a well-rounded athlete, playing varsity football, baseball, and basketball. His love for writing blossomed during his journalism classes, where he found an outlet for his creativity and passion. Those who knew him would often recall how he was never without a smile, a testament to his loving personality and zest for life.

Tom’s family was the center of his universe. He is survived by his devoted wife, Susan (Monroe) Martin, and their two beloved daughters, Kristi and Nicole, who were truly the pride and joy of his life. His life was enriched even further by his grandchildren, Trent Fischer, Jessica Fischer, and Emersen Linde each of whom brought immense happiness and love into his days.

Tom had an unwavering love for his pets, especially his dogs, and found joy in the simple pleasures like watching birds and clouds drift by. Music was another passion, with a special fondness for the timeless melodies of Elvis Presley. His heart swelled with gratitude during family vacations, a tradition that held deep significance to him, providing moments of joy and togetherness that shaped their shared memories.

Throughout his life, Tom displayed remarkable strength, notably during his 15-year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. His determination and bravery in the face of such challenges were a source of inspiration to those around him. The strong values instilled in him by his parents, John and Myrtle Martin, and his faith were guiding lights throughout his journey.

Tom is preceded in death by his sister, Claudette Stewart, whose memory will forever hold a place in the hearts of those who loved them both.
