Joanne Marie Scifres, 46, of Indianapolis, passed away on January 17, 2016. She was born on August 8, 1969 in Charleston, South Carolina to Bennie and Jean (Shutt) Arney. Joanne was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church and CRHP sister at the parish. Joanne was an inspirational nine year breast cancer survivor.
Joanne is survived by her son: Michael Andrew Scifres; mother: Jean Hafley (Jerry) sister: Julie Arney; brother: Bennie Arney, Jr. all of Indianapolis; former husband: Mike Scifres; several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and God-children. She was preceded in death by her father: Bennie L. Arney, Sr.
In lieu of flowers please make memorial contribution to the Michael Scifres College Fund at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 22, 2016 at St. Mark Catholic Church with visitation from 10 A.M. until Mass. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 3 P.M. until a Remembrance Ceremony starting at 7:00 P.M. with the Rosary following at Newcomer Funeral Home, 925 Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227.
