Jessie Irma Cox

Mooresville - Jessie Irma VanHook Cox, 100, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2023. She was born April 12, 1923 in Somerset, KY to the late Joe and Bertha O'Neil VanHook. She was 1 of 14 children. Ms. Jessie served her family as a homemaker. Her hobbies included gardening (particularly her flowers), canning and quilting. She loved her family and close friends and enjoyed spending time at church and with her family.

Ms. Jessie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Lloyd Carlton and her sons: Barney Lloyd, Joe Kenneth and Leonard Douglas. She is survived by her daughters, Verna Jean and Ethel Faye; sister, Wanda Fuqua; 21 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Ms. Jessie's family will receive friends Monday, July 3, 2023, from 11 am - 1 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of her life will follow at 1 pm at the funeral home chapel. A committal service will be conducted at New Crown Cemetery, 2101 Churchman Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46203 .
