On the 23rd of July, 2024, the world bid farewell to a remarkable soul as Jesse Allen Smith peacefully departed this life in Greenwood, Indiana. Born on March 22, 1937, in Franklin Indiana, Jesse's journey was one of dedication and honor.


Jesse's legacy is woven with threads of service and commitment. A proud veteran of the United States Army, he served his country during the Korean War as a Private Fist Class. His valor not only on the battlefield but also within his community as a cherished member of the VFW Post 6978.


Beyond his military service, Jesse excelled in his professional endeavors as a Maintenance Supervisor for over two decades, retiring with MAC Corporation. His work ethic and skill were unrivaled.


Those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with Jesse will fondly remember him for many reasons. From his captivating storytelling to his love for spending quality time with loved ones, Jesse had a special way of making every moment memorable. Jesse will be leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege to know him.


In his leisure moments, Jesse found solace in various hobbies and interests that brought him joy. Whether he was out fishing, hunting, or engrossed in watching classic western and war movies. Jesse enjoyed collecting guns and previously owned a '69 SuperBee and '66 Mustang which he told many stories about over the years.


Jesse married Martha Sturgis on June 18, 1976. Though their paths diverged in 2008, they remained friends until the very end.


Jesse Allen Smith is lovingly remembered by Michelle (Matt) Wedge (daughter), Marcia Winkler (sister), Debbie Blair (sister), Brittany Lewis (grandchild), Dylan Wedge (grandchild), Aidan Wedge (grandchild); Martha Sturgis; and several loving nieces, nephews and cousins, while being reunited with both parents, Jesse Luther and Edna Mae (Stanford) Smith, and Diana Kay Jones (sister) who welcomed him into eternal peace.


The life of Jesse Allen Smith serves as a poignant reminder of honor, resilience, and unwavering love. As we gather to celebrate his life at Newcomer Funeral Home Indianapolis on July 29th, 2024 – let us carry forward his spirit of courage and camaraderie in our own journeys ahead.


The family of Jesse would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Greenwood Village South Pavilion for the expectational care they provided Jesse during his stay and the support they provided to his family during his passing.
