Indianapolis - Jeffrey Kenneth Hill, 52, passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2020, at St. Francis Medical Center. Jeff was born on December 14, 1967, in Beech Grove, Indiana. He was the son of John Thomas Hill, Sr. and Carol Gayliene Hobbs Hill.
Jeff graduated in 1986 from Northwest High School, Indianapolis, where he excelled not only as a student, but in athletics. From the age of 4 to 18, he played football every year culminating as a varsity player at Northwest HS.
Jeff was especially close to his grandfather, Kenneth, whom he was named after. His grandfather worked with him, from the time he was a young boy, showing him the ropes as an electrician. His grandfather also instilled an intellectual curiosity in Jeff that propelled him to major in Electrical Engineering. After HS graduation, Jeff attended Indiana State University from 1986-1988, where he studied to earn a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
Throughout his life, Jeff enjoyed sports and was an avid reader. His love of football kept him occupied over the years as a super fan of the Chicago Bears and the Indianapolis Colts. He also enjoyed being outdoors with his brother, Tom. Their family spent many weekends fishing and camping. Earlier in his working life, Jeff was employed in various electrical production jobs and at Old Time Pottery.
Jeff was a happy, shy and unassuming gentleman who had a bright life and career ahead of him, but in his mid-twenties, he was struck with a severe disability that altered that course of his life. Even with his misfortune, Jeff struggled for 25 years to maintain a fierce independence. He was generous with his time and was always willing to help others. He was a gentle soul who tried his best to live the life that had been dealt him.
Jeffrey is survived by his sister, Jill Cobb and her husband, Oswald of Sunman, IN; brother, John Thomas Hill, Jr. and his wife, Kathy of Greensburg, IN; sister, Jennifer Hill Palmer and her husband, Larry of Indianapolis; nieces, Valerie Cobb (Roger LaFave) of Indianapolis and Brenna Hedrick and her husband, Matt of Rushville; and numerous other nieces and nephews: Taylor, Alexis, Tommy, Rhianna, Kloey and Maxsum.
He was preceded in death by; his father, John Thomas Hill, Sr., in 2017, mother, Carol Gayliene Hobbs Hill in 2003; maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Nora Hobbs; paternal grandparents, John Herman and Sarah Pearl Hill; and his niece, Angela Christine Hill in 2003.
Visitation will be conducted at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions at 925 East Hanna Ave, Indianapolis Indiana 46227 on Thursday, November 12, 2020 ,from 12:00pm to 1:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted immediately following the visitation at 1:00 pm with Pastor Howard Bullard of the Ben Davis Creek Christian Church in Rushville, Indiana officiating. Burial will take place at Floral Park Cemetery.
