Jacksonville, FL - Jasmine Antoinette "Yam" Harris, 34, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2020. She was born March 26, 1986 in Munster, IN to Yolanda Yvette Taylor McKissack and the late James Hosea "Peanut" Harris. Jasmine spent her early years in northwest Indiana. After the family moved to Indianapolis, Jasmine completed her education in the Washington Township School District. Additionally, she attended beauty college and then earned her Associates Degree in Medical Assisting.
Jasmine was a loving and compassionate person. She had eyes that could light up the darkest soul. She had too many talents to count, but fashionista topped the list. Her mother described her as the typical "girly girl" who had a very whimsical personality and loved snacks.
The relationship she had with her brother James (her Budda) was unlike any other. They always had each other's backs. To her Budda, Jasmine could do no wrong. Wonder Twin powers deactivated. The most important parts of her world were her children. She loved and adored them. The love she had for them radiated in her eyes when she looked at them. She wanted nothing more for them than the ability to live wonderful lives. Jasmine also loved her cousins and they loved her back. They were family by blood, but best friends by choice.
Jasmine was preceded in death by her father, Peanut; grandmother, Beverly; grandfathers, Vincent Flookie and Bob Flowers; great aunts, Diane and Hellen; and cousin, Katelyn LLKDG. She leaves to fondly cherish her memory her mother, Yolanda Taylor McKissack; step-father, Sean McKissack; her children's father, Arthur "AJ" Desue; children: Zachariah, Zariah, Taylor and Arthur; brothers, James "Sonny" and Tony; fur brother, Rainn Otis; great grandmother, Marie O'Neal; grandmother, Kathryn O'Neal; step-grandparents, Herman and Glenda McKissack; niece, Sereniti; aunts: Shay, Mickey, April, Shantee', Angie, Jamiliah, Julia and Sha Sha; great aunts: Tangie Wilbert and Dolly Howse; great uncle, Uncle Norman; uncles, Keith, Robbie, Tyrell and Darius; many special cousins; and many other beloved family members and dear friends.
