Janet Yvonne Walters

Indianapolis - Janet Yvonne Walters, 85, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021. She was born July 22, 1935 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Robert and Martha Hazelgrove.

Ms. Walters spent most of her life on the Southside of Indianapolis. She grew up in the Fountain Square area. She also lived in Greenwood for many years. She was employed by Turtle Creek Nursing Home. She retired from Logo 7 after several years of employment.

She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Greenwood. Additionally, she was the church organizer for Greenwood Village Apartments. She was always there for her siblings and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Ms. Walters was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Bob and Rodney Hazelgrove. She is survived by her daughter, Yvonna Nungester and her husband, Tom; son, Alex Walters and his wife, Tina; sisters, Sue Poynter and Clara Sarles; grandchildren: Tim and Nick Nungester and Alexys, Gunner, Vincent and Matthew Walters; and many great grandchildren.

Ms. Walter's family will receive friends Thursday, January 14, 2021, from 11 am – 1 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. Celebration of her life will follow at 1 pm with Pastor Jonathan Dellinger officiating. For the health and safety of all guests attending, face masks are required. A committal service will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
