Indianapolis –James Lee "Jim" Lyman, 64, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 26, 2019. He was born January 17, 1955 in Beech Grove, IN to the late Joseph and Mary Louise Slagle Lyman. James, Jim, Jimmy, Pop, Daddy, Bub, Uncle Bub - he was known by many names to many people. He was, however, a singular thing to all - more than we could ever hope for.
When Jim called you a friend, he meant that you were family. He would do anything for you. He was watching out for people long before they realized help was needed. It is impossible to condense the life of such a person to a book, let alone a couple of paragraphs.
He was the best husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, confidant, quiet listener, noisy advocate, advisor, mentor and protector that anyone could hope for. His sense of humor was legendary and (much to the dismay of their respective spouses and parents) is carried on in full force by his children and grandchildren. Jim was many irreplaceable things to many people. He will be forever remembered and deeply missed by all.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Louise Slagle Lyman. He is survived by his beloved wife of forty four years, Beth Ann Lyman; son, Joshua Lyman and his wife, Dawn; daughter, Jamie Humphreys and her husband, Jeff; brothers: Joseph Lyman II and his wife, Julieann and Jerrold Lyman and his wife, Valerie; grandchildren: James Lyman and Jaxon and "Baby Girl" Humphreys; and many other loving family members and dear friends.
Jim's family will receive friends Monday, July 1, 2019, from 4 – 8 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of his life will be conducted Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at 11 am at the funeral home.
