James Jason "Jay" Hamilton, age 75 of Indianapolis passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis following a brief illness. He was born July 21, 1947 the son of, Chester and Dorothy (Denwood) Hamilton, Sr. Jay attended Manuel High School and later obtained his GED in 1993. He served his county in the United States Army. He liked to be outdoors fishing and taking in all of nature while sitting on his patio. Jay married the love of his life Sharon McGrady and he was a very caring, loving husband. Jay worked several years at Harmons Automotive, but his most rewarding position he worked at was when he was a chef at Gray Bros Café. He liked to have a good Coke or a good cup of coffee while controlling the remote control and watching television in his home. Jay never met a stranger and would talk to everyone he met. More than anything, Jay truly loved life and lived a happy one.
Jay is survived by his wife, Sharon Hamilton; 2 daughters, Holly McCrady and Laura (husband Henry) Barnett-Lewman; sister, Kathy Childers; brother, Victor Hamilton; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; life long friend, Myra Dupaski; best buddy and caregiver, Freddy Ducking; his dog, Scooter; his cat, Cody; several nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.
Jay is proceeded in death by his parents; brother, Chester W. Hamilton, Jr.; daughter, April Mae Kolanowski; and his dog, Lulu.
A celebration of Jay's life will take place at a later date. Jay's wishes were to be cremated and Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions is honored to handle those arrangements for him. Please continue to support Jay's family during these trying times.
