Indianapolis - Rev. James E. George, 86, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, May 19, 2016.
Rev. George was born September 14, 1929 in Evergreen, AL. He was a baker and worked for Kroger for 25 years. He also owned and operated George's Bakery for a short time. Rev. George was an ordained pastor and a member of the Indianapolis Minister's Alliance. He was a longtime member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church.
Rev. George was preceded in death by his daughter, Annie George Clark and grandson, Michael W. Turner. He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Mamie George; daughters, Betty J. Turner and Anita George; sons, James George Jr., David George and Thomas George; and a host of other beloved family members and devoted friends.
Rev. George's family will receive friends Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 10 am – 12 pm at Pleasant Union Baptist Church at 1202 Eugene Street in Indianapolis. A celebration of his life will be conducted at the church at 12 pm. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. A repast at the church will immediately follow the interment.
