Indianapolis - Helen Alice Owen, 86, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021. She was born April 16, 1934 in Norristown, PA to the late Oscar and Catherine Brady Williams. She married Dr. Norris Owen on May 21, 1955. She was employed by the United States Post Office where she served as a rural letter carrier for over twenty years. She retired in 1995. After retirement, the family moved to a farm in Worthington, IN. They enjoyed wintering in Sebring, FL.


Mrs. Owen was a member of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association, the American Legion Auxiliary in Worthington, IN and Tulip Church in Bloomfield, IN. Additionally, she was a Girl Scout leader, a Gray Lady (First Aid) at Eden Elementary School and a member and officer of Hancock Country REACT for several years. She enjoyed fishing, ceramics, sewing and helping others, but more than anything else, she loved spending time with and spoiling her children and grandchildren.


Mrs. Owen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Norris Owen; parents, Oscar and Catherine Brady Williams; sisters, Charlotte Morrison and Betty Williams; and brothers, William and Connie Williams. She is survived by her daughter, Anita Owen; sons, Keith Owen and his wife, Cathy and Steve Owen and his wife, Donna; brother, Charles Williams and his wife, Mary Jane; grandchildren: Caitlin, Carissa (and her husband, Rudgert), Sean, Courtney, Oliver and Isaiah; sister-in-law, Shirley Williams; and many other loving family members and dear friends.
A celebration of her life will be conducted in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory.
