Helen M. Curtis

Helen Marie Curtis, age 79 of Greenfield, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield following a brief illness. She was born January 8, 1943 in Marengo, Indiana the daughter of Roy and Opal (Lahue) Lockhart. Helen attended Arsenal Tech High School. She retired in production from Thompsons Electronics, formerly RCA where she was employed for over 30 years. Helen married the love of her life, Larry Curtis on July 10, 1959. She enjoyed building puzzles, playing solitare, fishing and formerly bowling on many different local bowling leagues. Larry and Helen were very involved in the Crown Victoria Association car club. Over the years, they went on many memorable trips to different states for the annual car convention. Helen loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends.

Helen is survived by her son, Ron (wife Melanie) Curtis; daughter, Rita Kemper; 2 siblings, Alvin (wife Pam) Lockhart and Carol (husband Rick) McCracken; 3 grandchildren, Kyle (fiancé Becky) Kemper, Amanda Schriber and Marsha Hollis; brother-in-law, Dean (wife Vivian) Curtis; 2 sisters-in-law, Janet Saylor and Renda (husband Henry) Suniga; several nieces and nephews; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry Curtis; 2 brothers, Frank Lockhart and Chuck Lockhart; son-in-law, Kenny Kemper; sister-in-law, Mary Curtis; and 2 brothers-in-law, Alva Curtis and George Saylor.

A funeral service celebrating Helen's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 22, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46227 with Pastor Gary Stump officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 21, 2022 and 12:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service on Friday, July 22, 2022 at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Acton Cemetery, 7900 Acton Road, Indianapolis, IN 46259.
